Penny Lane - The Beatles

Lennon - McCartney

In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs

Of every head he's had the pleasure to know

And all the people that come and go

Stop and say hello

On the corner is a banker with a motor car

The little children laugh at him behind his back

And the banker never wears a "mac"

In the pouring rain, very strange

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

There beneath the blue suburban skies

I sit and meanwhile back

In Penny Lane there is a fireman with an hourglass

And in his pocket is a portrait of the Queen

He likes to keep his fire engine clean

It's a clean machine

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

Full of fish and finger pies

In summer, meanwhile back

Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout

The pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray

And though she feels as if she's in a play

She is anyway

In Penny Lane the barber shaves another customer

We see the banker sitting waiting for a trim

And then the fireman rushes in

From the pouring rain, very strange

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

There beneath the blue suburban skies

I sit and meanwhile back

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

There beneath the blue suburban skies

Penny Lane

Getting Better - The Beatles

Lennon - McCartney

It's getting better all the time

I used to get mad at my school (well I can't complain)

The teachers that taught me weren't cool (well I can't complain)

You're holding me down, (ah) turning me round (ah)

Filling me up with your rules

I've got to admit it's getting better (better)

A little better all the time (it can't get more worse)

I have to admit it's getting better (better)

It's getting better since you've been mine

Me used to be angry young man

Me hiding me head in the sand

You gave me the word

I finally heard

I'm doing the best that I can

I've got to admit it's getting better (better)

A little better all the time (it can't get more worse)

I have to admit it's getting better (better)

It's getting better since you've been mine

Getting so much better all the time

It's getting better all the time (better better better)

It's getting better all the time (better better better)

I used to be cruel to my woman

I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved

Man I was mean but I'm changing my scene

And I'm doing the best that I can

I admit it's getting better (better)

A little better all the time (it can't get more worse)

Yes I admit it's getting better (better)

It's getting better since you've been mine

Getting so much better all the time

It's getting better all the time (better better better)

It's getting better all the time (better better better)

Getting so much better all the time
